Mission Statement

  

The mission of C.A.R.E. shall be to prevent and/or reduce the incidence and trauma of child maltreatment, to provide support to families through education, and to be a voice for children in court through trained volunteer advocates.

Donations

  

The Corporation is organized under and pursuant to the provisions of the Virginia NonStock corporation Act (including all future laws amendatory thereof and supplementary thereto) and is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes, including for such purposes, the distribution to organizations that qualify under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. 

Notwithstanding any other provision of these Articles, this corporation shall not carry on any other activities not permitted to be carried on by: (a) a corporation exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Code or the corresponding provision of any future Unites States Internal Revenue law, or (b) corporation contributions to which are deductible under section 170(c)(2) of the Code, or corresponding sections of any future Internal Revenue law.

Purpose

 

The purposes and objectives of the Corporation shall be: 

1). Within Virginia’s counties of Buchanan, Tazewell, and Russell, the Corporation shall speak out on the best interest of children, and engage in child advocacy in an effort to protect children’s rights which may be abridges or abused; 

2). Provide a safe and neutral location in which law enforcement and Child Protective Services investigators and professional may conduct and observe forensic interviews with children who are alleged victims of crimes, and where the child and non-offending family members may receive support and crisis intervention; 

3). Provide referrals for professional services for medical examinations, assessments, and treatments, as well as psychological evaluations and counseling, and other available support services for alleged child victims that have been abused physically, sexually, mentally, and/or emotionally;

4). Gather evidence and reports from referred services and present them to appropriate law enforcement agencies and/or commonwealth attorney’s offices, for the purpose of persecution of abuse perpetrator(s), when appropriate; 

5). Actively work with public and private corporations, firms, organizations, foundations, and individuals with a goal to support, strengthen, and promote programs and activities that provide intervention, treatment, prevention and educational services for child victims of abuse; 

6). Acquire necessary equipment, properties, transportation and other assets, apply for and receive funding through government grants, charitable foundations, corporations, and establish a fund for carrying out the stated purposes herein; and 

7). Accomplish the vision and goals of the Corporation through the establishment of clearly defined Bylaws, policies and procedures.
